Definition of Success
What is your definition of success and how will you achieve it?
Most people want a variation of more money, more things, or a great career. But simply acquiring more isn’t the purpose of these goals. We pursue them because we believe they lead to fulfillment.
It’s unfortunate that a majority of people equate good finances alone to being successful. In fact, 51% of Americans have a financial goal in 2020, making it the most popular resolution for the year.[1] But fewer chose good health, mental wellness, and skill development in the same poll.
Learning to manage your finances is a good goal, but it’s only the tip of the iceberg in being successful. After all, would you consider someone successful if they were rich but miserable?
How to Become Successful
The only way you can consider yourself successful is if you live a life you’re happy to live. Therefore, it’s natural that we should pursue fulfillment in order to find our own version of success. What better way to measure success than a lack of regrets when we look back in life?
So what should we invest in to achieve the maximum fulfillment, and therefore success, in life? Here are the three things you need to focus on in 2020 to set yourself up for success.
1. Success Through Health
Your body is a vehicle for success: the better you take care of it, the further it will take you. Therefore, your health THE MOST important thing you need in order to reach success. Period.
Without following a few healthy habits for success, there is no way your body and mind can perform at their best.
A healthy body has the energy to get through difficult tasks and stay productive with very few sick days. Meanwhile, nourishing your mind will allow you to work smarter and reach success faster.
Invest in yourself first, and you’ll see returns that far outweigh investing into anything else.
2. Success Through Wealth
To be wealthy means to have an abundance of resources to live the life you want. Whether it’s time or money, you need adequate quantities of both for success. Therefore, it’s important to treat them both equally.
Take money for what it is: a resource. Money can fuel the lifestyle you want, but without the time and freedom to enjoy that life, it will be for nothing.
If you spend all your time working, you reduce yourself to a mere money-making tool. That’s why I quit my job to start living my best life, even if it meant giving up $100k+ a year. The cost of my salary was giving up on my dreams and the time to spend with people I cherished.
The solution? Start investing into assets so your money works for you, not the other way around! By investing your time and money wisely, you can have the freedom to start living the life you want.
3. Success Through The Right Mindset
In order to reach and sustain success, you need a road map to find the path to success AND stay on it. Only with the right mindset can you create sustainable success.
What’s the greater purpose that will drive you every day to pursue success? How will you keep yourself accountable and stick to your goals instead of giving up halfway? If you don’t have the right mindset, you won’t be able to answer these questions.
If you want to create success and keep it, you need to know what the habits of successful people are and how to become your best self. Having the right mindset and setting up the right environment to nurture your success will bring you one step closer to living the life of your dreams.
Conclusion
We all want some sort of success in life, even if they take different forms. But in the end, fulfillment is the ultimate goal when we strive for success.
In order to reach success, we need a properly maintained vehicle (a healthy body), the fuel to continue the journey (a wealth of money, time, and freedom), and the roadmap (the mindset that leads us to success) to stay on the right track.
With all three in balance, you will be well on your way to reaching the success you deserve.
